2010 AEI Annual Congress

The 38th AEI Annual Congress will this year kindly be hosted by the German Affiliates:
Vereinigung Luftfahrt e.V and Berufsverband Prufer von Luftfahrtgerat e.V.
 
Congress will take place in Hamburg, Germany from 22nd to 25th of September 2010.

United 757 Lands With Serious Cockpit Fire

A United 757 en route from New York to Los Angeles Monday made an emergency landing at Dulles following a cockpit fire that may have been more serious than initially reported. Passengers told the Associated Press Monday afternoon that shortly after take off, they smelled smoke and a flight crew member opened the cockpit door requesting a fire extinguisher. The passenger told the AP that open flames were visible and at least one windshield was cracked.

Volcanic Ash Brushes North America.

Shifting winds gave North America a taste of what Europeans have been enduring for five days as volcanic ash reached the easternmost point of the continent, canceling flights from the Newfoundland and Labrador capital of St. John's. At least nine flights were cancelled in a precautionary move by airlines.

AMFA National Director Louie Key and Assistant National Director Floyd Looney attended a ceremony commemorating Charles E. Taylor at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on March 2, 2010. Ken MacTiernan, Director of the Aircraft Maintenance Technicians Association (AMTA), sponsored the presentation of a bust of Charles E. Taylor, the Wright Brother’s mechanic, for display in the Academy’s library.

65,000 flights should not have flown

Once again events reported in the United States have clearly highlighted the inadequacies of the European Union Transport Department’s (DG TREN) oversight of air safety within Europe. A USA Today analysis of Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) data in the United States has shown that 65,000 commercial passenger flights took place between 2003 and 2009 in an un-airworthy condition.
