Transport and SFF portend conflict of Aircraft Engineers
By AEI Editor
Published: Oct 3, 2010
The reason is to protect against deterioration:
The union wants better protection against the employer terminates the local agreement and otherwise impair Aircraft Engineers conditions locally . Such makes that possible improvements in the central agreement may be worthless.
Employers want the Agreement to apply only for those working as both B1 and B2 engineers. This opens to a large part of the Aircraft Engineers / Technicians; Instead would be covered by the National Contract conditions for mechanics, and thus the risk of wage cuts.

Air Zimbabwe Fires All Its Pilots
By AEI Editor
Published: Sep 13, 2010
Zimbabwe's national airline has fired all of its pilots after they ignored the deadline to end their strike. Air Zimbabwe pilots stopped flying last Wednesday to pressure the cash-strapped airline into restoring full monthly salaries. Wages were cut in half in February. Air Zimbabwe flies three Boeing 737-200s and two 767-200s along with three Chinese-built Xian MA60 turboprops. Sacking the pilots doesn't necessarily mean everyone else at the airline is out of a job, and AEI hope this does not affect the situation of the members of Zimbabwe Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Association.
