AEI PRESS RELEASE

Despite the constant flow of statements from the EU and EASA that Europe has the highest aviation standards in the world; it is in fact the civil aviation authority of Vietnam that has shown Europe how to behave.

EU Incompetence Threatens Air Safety
By AEI Editor

AEI PRESS RELEASE

With air accidents on the increase, European air safety will continue to be compromised due to the European Transport Commissions failure to de-politicise the enforcement of its own regulations. This was the message delivered to delegates attending the 37th AEI Annual Congress. Despite the recent FAA revelations admitting regulatory oversight lapses in the United States, the arrogance of European politicians unwilling to take on board vital lessons, will continue to pose a serious threat.

            AEI PRESS RELEASE

The largest single cause accelerating the downward trend of aviation safety is the increase in the number of regulatory breaches by airlines remaining uncorrected. This startling fact is difficult to comprehend particularly as recent aircraft accident reports have cited weak regulatory oversight being a major contributory factor.

Aviation Regulatory Lapses Significantly Reducing Safety Levels

Despite all the promises and promotional videos, the European Union’s regulation of the aviation industry has now hit an all time low placing passengers at an unacceptable level of risk. With 2009 rapidly becoming one of the worst accident periods for many years including the recent tragic events resulting in loss of life, any weaknesses within the European Aviation Authorities and the EU only serve to promote unsafe practices.
