SAS close down Braathens Technical Services (BTS)

Had to let go of valuable competence
Nearly 700 employees at Gardermoen will constitute the largest unit in STS. 265 employees at Sola will be affected by the closure and the chairman of this part of the operations, Per Magne Mathisen, regrets the fact that the company has to let go of valuable competence.

| The production at STS' base in Stavanger will now gradually be reduced, while at the same
time an extensive program for assisting the employees in finding new jobs, will be implemented immediately. Each and all of the employees will receive salary the year out, and employees over 59-years of age are guaranteed continued employment in the SAS Group. |
Serious nature... The employees of STS were earlier today informed of the board's decision. Considering the serious nature of the matter and its importance for many people,
SAS CEO, Jörgen Lindegaard, has decided that the matter should be presented at
the board of the SAS Group on June 15, 2006.

AEI Technical Committee Chairman and BTS Lisenced Engineer As we say in Dutch: "The Bullet is through the Church", which means that it has happened.
Yesterday at about 16.00 local time the message came that Braathens Technical Services (BTS) will be closed.................
So come end of September we will be made redundant. Whether some of us will be able to qualify for "a package" that gives some more of us the opportunity to stay on in Scandinavian Technical Services (STS) has to be seen. Not as it stands, but our next job is to work on improving the package. The result is that totally about 265 people will be made redundant, of which is 90 Licensed Engineers.
Perhaps any of the readers could help the people that will be made redundant here,
WITH TELLING ME ABOUT ANY VACANCIES YOU KNOW ABOUT!!! As far as license coverage in BTS is concerned this is mainly B737 2/3/4/5/6/7/8 & 900, some have B 767 200, and some F 50 in addition, but not so many. |
