Severe Problems for our colleagues in Pakistan.
By AEI Editor
Published: November 9, 2007

SAEP are heading towards a full blown strike due to very bad results of the negotiations between the Aircraft Engineers and the management of PIA.

The company is denying them the salary increase that they are entitled to based on signed previous agreements. Since negotiations are under pressure, all kind of delaying tactics are used, and the management of PIA is starting a media campaign blaming the engineers of terrorism like behavior toward the company, although so far the Engineers have only used their legal rights.

The company is urgently hiring foreign staff (not properly licensed and trained in the PIA procedures and Aircraft Types) to take over maintenance activities in case the strike will continue. So far the full strike is not started but that could happen any day since the company forces the Pakistani Engineers into a corner without normal escape possibilities.
