During the Annual Congress of the Norwegian Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Association (NFO), long standing member Svein Hansen was bestowed with NFO’s Honorary Membership. This award is very exclusive, and has been given only to three persons during the period of NFO`s 70 year history
| Svein Has been a member of NFO SAS branch throughout his career, and retired from his job as Outstation Engineer in Evenes in the high north of Norway above the Polar Circle a few years ago. Ever since I met Svein, now nearly 20 years ago, he has been involved with technical and regulation matters through NFO’s equivalent of AEI’s ATACommittee called TU. Svein has a sharp and observant mind, and an excellent understanding of what is required of regulation and ther measures to keep aviation maintenance safe. | | | On the international regulation scene he has participated in negotiations and meetings at a Scandinavian and European level. At the last level this has been through AEI, where he first participated in the JAA’s MST for many years, and it can be stated without a doubt that he was instrumental in preventing that Aircraft Maintenance Engineers throughout Europe ended up with just a company authorisation instead of a personal licence, as is the case today! |
When Svein retired from work it looked like he also retired from the association work, but this only seemed so, since he is taking things a little more leisurely now. However he has continued to participate in NFO’s TU committee, and also as an ATAC Delegate in AEI. When it became clear that AEI needed a capable candidate to participate in the EASA Working Group (WG) for regulation of Type Training, I asked him if he would be willing to take on this task. He did so much to the delight of the AEI Executive Board, and even though he joined the WG long after it started its work, he has relentlessly worked for achieving a high as possible standard. Not only that, now this WG is slowly coming to a final conclusion, he has agreed to participate in yet another WG that is going to deal with Type Certificates. There is no doubt in my mind that Svein will do an excellent job there too! This Honorary Membership is therefore well deserved for all his relentless efforts to make aviation maintenance a safer and better industry to work in. |
Svein would not have been able to devote so much of his free time to the course, would it not have been for the full support and understanding of his wife Lillian, who was present at the Ceremony on Saturday the 27th of January. We hope we can count on her support also in the future, and we are looking forward to Sveins participation for a long time to come! Pieter Doyer AEI Technical Committee Chairman | |

If you have airworthiness concerns that you have not been able to solve through your company reporting system, or that are too sensitive for such a system to use, you are invited to use AEI’s reporting form that can be downloaded here. To secure the highest degree of Confidentiality it is necessary to send the report by surface mail to the ATAC Chairman. The address can be found by selecting “About us”, and “Executive Board”, after which you scroll down to ATAC Chairman.
